GMA Week - Post #2

Sunday - I have met today with my friends at the William Morris Agency, looking at some of the upcoming tours and concerts that I will consider picking up over the remainder of 2008. There are some cool things to consider, including some things that will stretch the boundaries a bit stylistically from what I usually do. The key is making them work on the spreadsheet so that at the end of the day everyone makes a bit of money. I seem to be scrutinizing this more heavily than usual since we have committed so heavily to use our concerts to fund the education of orphans in Africa.

Another highlight was heading off to a little bar called 12th & Porter (coincidentally located at 12th & Porter) to watch my friends in Old Man Shattered from Albuquerque, NM. Like so many young bands who want to "make it" in this business, they came to GMA Week hoping to make that one special connection that can push you over the top, and they came with no place to stay, no rental car, after a local gig cancelled on them that was going to help pay the bills. Fortunately, I had ended up with a "mini-van" when I rented my car at the airport, so was able to shuttle them around to the showcase and then we enjoyed the evening on the patio of the Hilton enjoying fine cigars that I provided! They sounded & looked better than I had ever heard them before and know they have allot of potential. I have known this band since they were mere lads and over the past year they have been asking for my help as a manager & consultant. Even though, I am generally not looking for additional things to do, I would love to find a way to help them out. Check out their music on myspace and tell me what you think. www.myspace.com/oldmanshattered

Okay, I am behind on putting my thoughts & experiences on the blog but will try to catch up.
